Pre-Season 2024

June 10 2024

Hey everyone! As I am getting ready for another great summer of fishing I just wanted to share some updates with you all about what the river is doing, some different news from the valley and an update of my calendar for the year!

First, the river. This year should be a great water year once again. We had a normal snowpack this year that should lead to cool, clean water all summer long. We may see some “dog days of summer” type water temps in August, but an early start to the day should make that a non issue. We saw exceptional fish numbers last year and with no major changes to the fishery there should still be an amazing amount of happy, healthy fish. Right now the river is in runoff and is almost over its banks. This happens every year due to the snowmelt but shouldn’t be as scary as last spring. We got some very high temps this week which should make runoff peak in the next few days and start slowing in the next couple of weeks allowing us good conditions to start July.

Second, the valley. Star Valley is as green as it gets right now with all of the snow we had this winter and some cooler, wetter days this spring. Not much has changed in the valley aside from all the new houses going up. There doesn’t appear to be much construction as there has been in the past years. Some cool news is that JACZ restaurant in Etna has added a neat little mini golf course for something to do after a long day on the river!

Third, my schedule. The days are filling in fast. I only have 4 days left open in July at the moment and those will go pretty quickly. If you are looking for a half day, I have a few other options in July, but as for full day trips thats all I have left. As for August, its starting to fill in, but there are still some prime dates as we look into hopper season. September is my favorite time to be on the river and has a bunch of days open. A lot of people like to see what the weather does before booking in September but the days start to fill up fast while the weather is still good and the fish are still happily eating. Just let me know what days you are interested in and we are bound to have an amazing day.

I hope everyone had an amazing winter and I cant wait to hear all about it.
