Where to begin! This summer has been wild to say the least. We started with having an insane amount of water in the Salt River and having it flood the valley a little bit. Fast forward a couple of weeks and there was a mud slide on one of the Salts tributaries. The biggest problem with the slide was that it happened further south than we can float so it had the entire floatable section of the Salt very muddy and off color. With no end in sight, I had to cancel some trips or run over to the Green River. That was a long drive but we found a lot of great fish and had a lot of great days. We caught a lot of fish and found a bunch of brown trout at 20 inches or better. Even had one of my longest clients catch a 26 inch brown at the young age of 13 years old. Congrats Jeb!
Anyway, it seems they finally have the mudslide under control. At least the river is clearing up. I have been floating it all week and been having some great days. The river doesn’t look the best in the morning, but the fish are starving having been under crappy water for awhile. I want to thank everyone that came with me for their patience and understanding. The river should only continue to get better with the big bugs hopefully arriving soon.
Thanks to everyone who booked for July, I had a completely full calendar without a day off. Heading into August I have a lot of days open still. August should be some great fishing as we had a lot of water and the river should stay a little higher and colder. I love the month of August for the terrestrial flies and big foam eats. If you would like to get in on the action, just give me a shout!
