July 20th, 2020
So I meant to do one of these earlier in the season, but I wasn’t sure what some of the questions would be. I’ve finally gotten to a point with questions that I feel I can answer a few of the common ones. Let’s dive right into it!
Should I tip my guide? And how much?
It is always appreciated by your guide to receive a tip. Tipping goes a long way in helping us pay for the expenses of the day of fishing (i.e flies, leader, tippet, shuttle). I get the question a lot in the moment of how much to tip, but I tell everyone to think of us as your server and to do a percentage — somewhere between 15-20%, but of course it’s up to your discretion and should be based on how you felt about the quality of the service.
Can you fit a 3rd person?
Though our drift boats are small, they are actually quite roomy and sometimes can fit a third. However, a general rule of thumb is 2 adults can fit comfortably with a child (10 and under). If we are talking 3 adult size people, a 2nd boat will be necessary. If you have a 3rd person, and can fit in one boat — a $100 charge will be added to your trip to accommodate the additional fishing gear/supplies needed for the third person.
Will lunch be provided?
This year (Summer 2020) lunch will not be provided as we are dealing with COVID-19. However, I will still have all the beverages and usually some bags of chips.
Where can I buy a fishing license?
Nowadays you can get anything online! However local fly shops usually have them and they always appreciate your business so if you can, go there. Locally in Alpine, there is Grey’s River Sports that sells them, and in Thayne there is Minuteman Supply LLC. If its easier for everyone, I could meet you at these places in the morning and we can take care of it then!
Those are the most common questions, though I get many more. If you have any that aren’t on here, please don’t hesitate to ask.

My upcoming availability
The calendar has been filling up quite steadily, but we still have some days open! The remainder of this week is completely full, but next week I have 7/28 & 8/1 open. If you are interested in an evening half day trip 7/27 & 7/31 open. Looking into August, I have some more days open, but don’t wait to long as August is some of the best fishing we can offer!
