Week 6 – Rollin into a Rain Storm!

June 29, 2020

Hello everyone and happy Monday! Picked up my brand new Hyde Drift Boats Montana Skiff just in time for a rainstorm. Heres some good news and bad news about the upcoming week and the rain.

Weather and the Rivers
Just yesterday the weather turned bad, it started raining and has not stopped. Most of our rivers here were on the cusp of greatness with still offering plenty of opportunity. Unfortunately this rain has brought them up a bit and probably shut us down for a few days. The rain is supposed to stop tomorrow and hopefully we see the rivers start to come back down pretty quickly. Im gonna keep a watchful eye on it and get back on the water as soon as they start coming down to see if they are still fishable. Fortunately rain water all comes down and goes away pretty quick. It just seeing how much silt it brings down with it.

Availability
As of this week with the rivers going up I’ll be trying to shuffle some things around for the couple trips I have this week. For 4th of July weekend and the following week, I am completely full. However I do have a few guides that I work with and if you want a trip, I can see what I can do. The following week only has a couple days left with a few people showing interest. The rest of July has a good amount of availability left.

Good News
There is good news in spite of the weather. The snow runoff seems to have peeked and just be creating enough water to keep the rivers healthy for most of the summer. The fish are hungry and they are showing it. The Green should see a great Grey Drake hatch any day now, and there has been a lot of success on stoneflies. As the water drops we should see continued success on these flies.
